This collect has been used by BPW since it's earliest years, following the founding of the organization in 1919. 

If we all lived by it's words, this world would be a better place for us all. 

The Collect

 Keep us, oh God, from pettiness;

let us be large in thought, in word, in deed.

Let us be done with fault-finding

and leave off self-seeking.

May we put away all pretense and meet each other

face to face without self-pity and without prejudice. May we never be hasty in judgment

and always generous.

Let us take time for all things;

make us grow calm, serene, gentle.

Teach us to put into action our better impulses, straightforward and unafraid.

Grant that we may realize it is the little things

that create differences,

that in the big things of life we are at one.

And may we strive to touch and to know

the great, common, human heart of as all,

 and oh Lord God, let us forget not to be kind.

you might be wondering,

 "What is a Member at Large?"

 

Anyone who supports the mission and  platforms of BPW/usa can become a member.  A Member at Large is an individual who joins BPW without  an affiliation with a local organization. (LO) If there is no LO within 40 miles of their home or business, they become members at large.

Currently, there is not an active LO in Winston-Salem; Lexington; Thomasville; Salisbury or Mooresville although there are members in those areas who believe that BPW is an organization that provides valuable services and programs to benefit women and their familes.
